The story

A town that thought it had already lost everything.

The floodwaters came once before. Everyone remembers what they took. No one imagined what they'd give back.

When record floods tear through the Mid North Coast, they expose the remains of Hillary Phillips — a woman the town assumed had simply left one day and never come back. Detective Steve Sansom and his partner, Nikki Ambrose, are handed a case that was never meant to be solved, in a community still digging itself out of the mud.

As the investigation closes in on the Phillips family, Rachel Phillips is caught between the people she loves and the truth she's starting to suspect. And beneath it all sits an old wrongful conviction — the case of Jimmy Smith — that no one wants reopened.
